Allergic reactions to COVID-19 vaccines
The overall risk of a life-threatening allergic reaction to the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is roughly 11 out of 1,000,000.
Other quotes of severe but not life-threatening reactions state the Pfizer vaccine carries about a 0.5% risk and the Moderna 1.4% risk.
Very slow recovery from COVID-19 if you need hospitalization
A recent survey found that the vast majority of those who needed to be hospitalized (ie., with more severe disease) with COVID-19 are still struggling with their recovery 6 months later.
The results of this study are in concert with my experience following those who needed hospitalization for COVID-19.
J&J and AstraZeneca vaccines
The Johnson & Johnson single dose vaccine appears out of the chute to be 90% effective at preventing COVID-19. However these are short-term (60 day) results. They have yet to file for FDA approval under the EUA.
The AstraZeneca-Oxford two dose vaccine has gone back to the drawing board to be reformulated after some preliminary results. The new phase 3 study is expected to get underway in February and approval (if effective) not until late this year.
The CDPHE has released a new COVID-19 hotline. The number is 877-268-2926. This should have the answers to most of your questions regarding the vaccine.
